ITIL certifications renewal

According to the PeopleCert Continuing Development Programme, candidates have to renew their ITIL certificate within three years from its issue date.
The renew-by date and the status of each certificate is shown in a candidate’s PeopleCert account.

HOW TO RENEW AN ITIL CERTIFICATE?

There are several ways to renew an ITIL certification.

Retake the same ITIL exam
Candidates can retake the same ITIL examination before the expiration date of the certificate.

Take another ITIL course and examination
Candidates can take another ITIL course and exam within the ITIL 4 qualification scheme before the expiry date of the certificate.

Collect and log CPD points
Candidates are required to submit a minimum of 20 CPD points annually, across various CPD categories, for three consecutive years. At the end of the three years period, the certification renewal date will be extended by another three years.
The CPD points must be submitted by the date when the candidate initially passed their most recent exam. For example, if an exam was passed on June 1, 2020, the CPD points must be submitted by June 1 of each year. If you hold more than one ITIL certificate, you can follow the procedure only once, and all of your ITIL certificates will be renewed. 

I HAVE MORE THAN ONE ITIL CERTIFICATE: DO I HAVE TO RENEW ALL OF THEM?

If a candidate achieved more than an ITIL certificate, he/she will need to take only one ITIL exams to renew both. In fact, certificates within the same PeopleCert Product Suite share their expiry date.
For example, if a candidate achieved an ITIL 4 Foundation certification in December 2021 and an ITIL 4 Specialist: Drive Stakeholder Value certification in March 2022, the certifications will both have to be renewed within three years from the last date of achievement, that means within March 2025.

IS IT MANDATORY TO RENEW AN ITIL CERTIFICATION?

No, ITIL certification holders can decide not to renew their certificate. Their ITIL certificate will still be listed in the PeopleCert Successful Candidates Register and the certificate will be still valid.
However, there will be a note applied to the certificate saying that it is not aligned with the  current certification requirements.

IS THERE A SPECIFIC OFFER FOR ITIL RENEWAL?

PeopleCert has not created specific ITIL recertification packages, so candidates will have to purchase standard exam vouchers or training packages. However, ITILCenter will provide customers who need to renew their certifications with a special offer!
