ITIL Ver 3 vs ver 2

The Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) version 3 was published in June 2007, while the version 2 was published in 2000.

The ITIL methodology was conceived in the 1980s by the head office of the United Kingdom, computers and telecommunications (CCTA).

ITIL divides a task into repeatable processes and the performance of each process is measured with a view to improve efficency and effectiveness.

The ITIL framework is scalable and platform independent.  It is suitable  for businesses of any size, be it a global company with the latest technology or a small company  using older systems.

Version 3 of the ITIL methodology adds service strategy and service life cycles. While ver 2 focused primarily on the processes, v3 revolves around services and has more emphasis on Strategy and Operations Management.

Because ITIL v3 focuses on different areas than v2, the new information can be of great benefit to the company.
